The Chinese language education at Glenealy School is diverse and dynamic. Our Chinese language program is differentiated into three proficiency levels to cater to our students’ diverse learning needs. Putonghua is the medium of instructional language and simplified Chinese characters are taught throughout the curriculum. Apart from offering opportunities to enhance students’ fundamental Chinese Language skills, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing, we also provide teaching and learning that aims at developing students’ understanding of Chinese culture. Furthermore, major Chinese festivals are explored and celebrated across the whole school. In this way, our students are equipped with both language proficiency and cultural competence to thrive in an interconnected world.
Physical Education
We are committed to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among our students. Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in the overall development of our students, fostering their physical, mental, and social well-being. We believe in the importance of physical activity and its positive impact on a student's academic performance. Our PE program is designed to provide a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom, promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, teamwork, and lifelong wellness habits.
Our PE curriculum is diverse. To facilitate this, we use a range of venues, both on campus and within the local community. These include Conduit Road Playground, the Ladies Recreation Club (LRC), Island School, Causeway Bay Sports Ground,and Happy Valley Recreation Ground.
Our staff and curriculum cater to the needs and interests of all students, regardless of their athletic abilities. We strive to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels encouraged and supported to participate. Our students develop essential motor skills, coordination, flexibility, and endurance through various activities such as team sports, dance, gymnastics, yoga, athletics, outdoor and adventurous education, and swimming. They learn different sports' fundamental rules, strategies, and techniques, fostering a love for physical activity and a sense of healthy competition.
Our experienced staff are passionate about inspiring students to lead active and balanced lives. Visual Arts
The visual arts is an integral part of a broad-based curriculum designed to develop the whole child, promoting creativity, originality and imagination. Learning about and through arts is fundamental to the promotion of critical thinking, problem-solving skills and social interactions. The visual arts are a powerful mode of communication through which students explore and construct a sense of self and develop an understanding of the world around them. Arts provide students with various opportunities and means to respond to their experiences and engage with historical, social and cultural perspectives. The students are stimulated to think and to articulate their thoughts in new ways, and through a variety of media and technologies.

The visual arts curriculum includes access to responding to and creating artworks. Attention is given to the history of art as students are exposed to a range of artists' works from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and times in history. Students respond to these artworks in various ways, including, but not limited to, creating their own artwork. Students are able to experience access to working with a range of media and techniques including, but not limited to, bookmaking, ceramics, collage, costume design, drawing, graphic design, digital design, illustration, installation, jewellery, land art, mask making, metalwork, painting, papermaking, performance art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, set design, and textiles.
Performing Arts
The Music and Performing Arts curriculum at Glenealy strives to provide children with opportunities and resources to express their learning through a creative lens. By promoting and developing creative self-expression, presentation skills, collaboration skills, and cultural awareness, children can create meaningful connections and find new and exciting ways to express their curiosity, experiences and unique perspectives of the world around us.

Students engage with the Performing Arts Curriculum as both stand-alone specialist lessons and links to class units of inquiry. Throughout the grades, students can engage in different types of performances, including at assemblies, school fairs, and combined ESF events.
The school runs several performing art ECAs to extend students' talents beyond the classroom and into the community. These include lower school and upper school choirs, an orchestra and an annual school musical.
Students at Glenealy also have access to a wide range of peripatetic instrumental music teachers who visit the school weekly. Through the music teacher, lessons can be arranged with piano, guitar, drums, and violin teachers.
