It was a super sporty day yesterday as our footballers and netballers headed off to tournaments. The footballers to Tseng Kwan O and the netballers to Wong Chuk Hang. Well done to them all on representing Glenealy with such pride and enthusiasm. Gooooooo Glenealy
Another amazing house competition! We have 207 boxes being collected today. Thank you to everyone in the community who supported this year's Box of Hope.
Last week, our staff came together for a full day of professional learning focused on Mathematics.
Led by Mrs. Jennine Harding and Mr. Oisin Fahy, the day built on work already underway across the school and gave teachers time to explore how we can strengthen number sense, mental maths and mathematical thinking for our students.
Highlights included:
• developing a clearer whole-school approach to mental maths • exploring different ways children can represent and solve problems • discussing how we can help students explain and justify their thinking • designing real-life maths experiences using different spaces around our school
A key focus throughout the day was helping children become confident, flexible mathematicians who can choose strategies, explain their ideas and make sense of numbers in meaningful ways.
It was a highly collaborative day, with lots of discussion, practical activity and shared planning across year levels.
We had a wonderful visit from a Glenealy alumna who attended the school in the 1960s. Several generations of her family have attended Glenealy, including her grandniece Cassidy. Cassidy and her friend Alisha sat down with her to reflect on how much the school has changed over the years. It’s always a joy to welcome past students and hear their stories and insights into Glenealy’s history!
Our whole school was dancing to Bollywood beats, decorating diyas, and capturing memories in the photo booth! With amazing magic tricks and lots of laughter, we had the most wonderful Diwali celebration! A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for helping make it all possible!
Our amazing parents are busy decorating the school and getting everything ready for our Diwali celebrations on Thursday. We can’t wait to fill the school with colour, lights, and lots of festive fun! Huge thanks for making the magic happen.
What a tremendous display of track and field skills we were treated to today by our Year 5 & 6 students. Well done, everyone, on such fabulous performances. Special mention to our Y5 winners, Oliver, Magnus & Max and Alisha J, Cassidy & Gaga and to our Y6 winners, Angus, Nicholas, Christoper & Lucas and Mia, Muireann & Abigail T. What a way to end the half term!
It was an early start for our footballers on Thursday morning as they took on Kennedy School at 7am! Great job footballers ⚽️
☀️ Good Morning from Year 4 camp in Mui Wo
Our favorite day of the week: Thirsty Thursdays! Take a moment after drop-off and enjoy a morning beverage courtesy of the PTA.
